Thessaloniki Port

The Port of Thessaloniki has commissioned MVRDV and an international team of experts to lead the evolution of the non-core part of the City’s Port into a modern urban environment and a multi-character major hub. The project aims to raise the international profile of Thessaloniki and enable it to compete on the world stage. Modernizing and improving the Waterfront will be key in strengthening the city’s reputation and defining the future identity of the area.

The team will look at the site’s potential under different scenarios focusing on nature, recreation, culture, education, among others. To ensure this holistic approach and to address every aspect of this design challenge MVRDV are working together with Deda & Architects and Andreas Savvidis as architects consultants, Rotterdam-based Rebel Group, Stuttgart-based Drees & Sommer, London-based firm WSP, Athens-based Enveco, and Thessaloniki-based consultant Maria Sitzoglou.
